My Online Presence Revisited

Online_presence-201002

Over nine months ago I created a mind map of my online presence. Again, feeling overwhelmed by digital content I revisited the mind map. Unfortunately my online presence has grown and I'm sure I still have left off items unintentionally. My goal is to shrink this mind map within three months. I think Posterous will really help, but I have to optimize that workflow since I do get some double posts to other sites such as BrandonBohling.com. Another quick thought is that I will likely drop Flickr as I am not really using it as intended, so the benefits are nil at this point...again, Posterous (plus DigitalBohling.com) can eliminate a site. Beyond that, it gets harder!

Online Presence Chaos

Onlinepresence-sources

In my ongoing effort to keep up with my online presence I have created a list of all the sources (see visual). In an upcoming post I will demonstrate how these various content sources are pushed to more lifestream-like websites, such as brandonbohling.com, friendfeed, and tumblr. As you will see, it is quite the mess!

Enter Posterous
Recently, I have revisited my Posterous account (brandonbohling.posterous.com) and realized that their offering really could flip my approach on its head. Instead of posting my content (photos, videos, blogs, etc.) to their respective homes, I could leverage Posterous to do the heavy lifting. This could really simplify my life...and when a process is simple, I tend to use it more. I'm hoping the outcome of this new way of thinking about my online presence will be to publish more content. I truly do miss publishing content, but when I have so many choices (and tools) it is far too cumbersome, so more times than not I do something else instead.

Stay tuned while I work this through this process some more!
